Michael Curtis

 

 

  

My name is Michael Curtis. I'm from St. Michaels, Arizona. I’m the secondary Section Leader of the Navajo Nation Band's Drumline. I've been marching with the NNB for about 3 years now. I'm also head of the percussion section of the Window Rock High School Band. I've been playing Drums for 4 years and counting. I also play Guitar (7 years of playing) and bass (3 years of playing). I also fix, mod, and rebuild guitars. I own a B.C. Rich Kerry King Metal Master Warlock, 2015 Epiphone Ltd. Edition Wine Red Wildkat, Vintage Mosrite 12 String, and a recently rebuilt Fender Starcaster. I use Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinkey and Beefy Slinkey strings. My main amp is a 1965 Fender Dual Showman Twin Reverb amp stack. My guitar influences are Adrian Smith of Iron Maiden, Ritchie Blackmore of Deep Purple, Rainbow, and Blackmore Night, Jerry Cantrell of Alice in Chains, Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath, Alexi Liaho of Children of Bodom, Kerry King of Slayer, John Petrucci of Dream Theatre, Claudio Sanchez and Travis Stever of Coheed and Cambria. Now... percussion instruments. My snare drums are 13" Mapex MPX Piccolo Steel Shell Snare, 10" Mapex Stinger Steel Shell Snare, 12" Ludwig Poplar Snare, 14" Vintage Ludwig Wooden Snare, and a 14" Premier Steel Shell Snare. I own a Maxtone/Juggs Percussion Drum set with Zildjian A custom Cymbals, various hardware, Pearl Power shifter Double bass pedals and i use Evans Drumheads. My influence for Drumming is Chris Adler from Lamb of God, Taylor Hawkins of the Foo Fighters, Dave Grohl when he was the drummer for Nirvana, and Ian Paice of Deep Purple.
